The Joy Of The Simple Things

The Joy Of The Simple Things

As the economy works to reopen and we as professionals are working hard to understand what the New Normal will look like there are many things to reflect on. What I have noticed is the clarity on how the simple acts we have taken for granted will impact each of us. What has had the most profound impact on my wife and I is not being able to touch, hold and kiss our grandson. We are caregivers and had to give it up for 7 weeks. It has been extremely hard to stay 6 feet away from my son and his family but we do what is in the best interest of our families, no matter how painful it is. What has become painfully apparent is how important our family should be to each of us and the ability to take a meal, sit together in church, holding and kissing our grandson is a gift. Sunday, on Mother’s Day we will have my sons family over for breakfast and virtual church. I will get to hold my grandson for the first time in 7 weeks. I am incredibly grateful for all the blessings we have in spite of a difficult time. An incredible point of clarity that has evaded me for most of my adult life.
