Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18
This verse has given me a reason to get on my knees and thank God when circumstances around me were difficult at best. When I was younger, I struggled with this especially when I felt my desires and will was more important than God’s will. What I did not understand was that God had the bigger plan and my understanding was limited to what I could see and understand in the moment. What I also did not understand was how important it is to put my faith in God and trust him to take care of me and my family. A few years back I was really having a difficult time with work and one Sunday at church the lesson was on trusting God, do not live in fear as I am a child of God. This was profound to me and changed my life. Prayer has become very important to me as I have gotten older. To be able to leave my daily issues with God and trust that his will would prevail has given me freedom to not be consumed by the daily issues that come with life. God has us, God loves us, Jesus died for us!
