The Value of Diversity In The US Culture

For many years we as a country have hidden from the need to step us as the most influential country in the world and address the need to become more diverse. It seems to me that we are missing as business owners the opportunity to provide leadership at a time that strong unbiased leaders are needed. Not only in business, but in the US culture and every community in this country. Many businesses that claim to be diverse have implemented a halfhearted attempt to “check the box” but not truly acknowledge and promote the value of diversity. It is a proven fact that diverse businesses are more productive, more profitable and the culture promotes growth and change because respect for each team member is in place regardless of race, gender, or religious preference. With that said we are unable to lead to a different place. Why is that? Why are we unable to do the right thing? Why do we continue to maintain status quo? Historical Biases promotes the need to maintain what has always been done. If it is not broken do not change it! I AM HERE TO TELL YOU IT IS BROKEN IN A WAY WE AS WHITE AMERICANS SIMPLY CANNOT UNDERSTAND! We claim to be God Fearing Christians but will not create equality in our businesses and communities. We need change agents! We need leaders who are not afraid to be the Good Samaritan! This is not the easy road but is the necessary road! I as a leader am working to improve my community in which I live in. Improve for all the families that live in West Michigan.
